Jaks Kings Road - London

Wandered past and was enticed to stop to pick up some lunch from the counter to takeaway. I opted for a slice of Lasagne with Tabbouleh and Broad Beans. When I was handed my order I was charged £23.50!! Ridiculously overpriced for what I got. Unfortunately I was too polite to revoke my order but I have since reached out to the restaurant to check whether I have been accidentally overcharged.

We walked in to book a table for later that evening. We didn’t actually end up coming back to eat as we got caught up else where, but we wanted to leave a review to say that the staff who saw to us were so lovely, friendly and warm. I think one of them was the manager actually. It felt like they were happy to be at work and happy to see to their customers. This can be hard to come by.

Jaks is a true hidden gem! Those words are usually overused, but not in this case. Jaks is truly hidden and only a select few people know about it. The atmosphere, the food the staff are all amazing! Great for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. I cannot fault this place!

I will start by saying first the food was good but the service is the worst i have ever experienced. They bought out my friends 2 starters and i sat there for half an hour before mine showed up and no one told me what was going on. We also asked for water twice and nothing turned up. I left my teeth retainers on the table under a napkin and when my food was cleared they swiped away my retainers and i called the waitress but she walked away, Maybe she didnt hear me. I flagged down the next waitress and told them and they said they would check for me but no one came back so i asked another 4 people and still nothing so i asked to speak with the manager and he was the rudest person i have ever experienced, He was so rude to me and my friend, told me it was my fault. I politely asked if they could take some money off the bill as the service had been so poor, He said if you dont pay you wont leave the premises and i will call the police. He then called over the bouncer in which he was more understanding. I would NEVER return to this place again. The manager should get the sack he doesn't know how to give good customer service and is extremely rude.

I went to Jak’s a few times before the pandemic and enjoyed it. However, I went there for dinner with my friends and emailed them about going to the club afterwards. The dinner was ok. Very buzzy but the service wasn’t great. After dinner we wanted to go to the dance floor, as specified in my email to Jak’s, but you could only go on the dance floor if you booked a table (they’ve changed policies since the pandemic apparently). Obviously it was massively frustrating and I wouldn’t have gone to Jak’s if I had known this. Therefore, I’d only go to Jak’s if you want to have overpriced drinks and stand in a cramped bar with no seats
