Galvin La Chapelle - London

Years ago a french restaurant wouldn’t seat me as a vegan because they had “nothing to offer”. Today I had a 7 course vegan tasting menu from a French restaurant. How times have changed. Michelin star food AND service. Will note that it is nearly all (seasonal) veg based, rather than any legumes. Still delicious. We had a carafe of wine between two, and a coffee each, total came to £300. Note The sommelier told us that not all the paired wines are vegan, so be careful if you go down that route

Not many Michelin star restaurants offer a vegan tasting menu -well, no others that I know of- and Galvin la Chapelle has set the bar high! We had gone in with an open mind but weren't sure what to expect from a restaurant that predominantly serves meat fish dishes but ultimately we were left impressed with the flavour combinations that had been created from familiar ingredients and those less well known. Staff were friendly and attentive. We'd made them aware beforehand that I was pregnant so that my glass of champagne was changed to a non-alcoholic cocktail. When we arrived they made sure we were happy with the ingredients on the menu, asking if there was anything I would like to replace or didn't want to eat during my pregnancy (I ate everything, but it was a lovely touch to be asked and have staff be so accommodating! . Delicious food, welcoming staff and exceptional service, all in a beautiful setting. Fantastic experience to gift to any vegan... Cannot fault in any way!

Definitely priced in the ‘special treat’ category, their 7-course vegan tasting menu was absolutely divine, with tastes I have never previously encountered. Service was attentive and well informed.

They offer a fully vegan 7 course tasting menu which is some of the best food we've ever had. We've returned twice and bought vouchers for 4 family members. Amazing for a special occasion, and relatively cheap considering they hold a Michelin star. Definitely recommend. Top tip they do a black Friday sale where you can buy gift vouchers for the vegan taster menu, if you buy in advance you can save some money! Updated from previous review on 2022 04 03
