Afternoon Tea at Caffe Concerto - Northumberland Av

I took a group of friends to this branch of Caffe Concerto, I have eaten at other branches before and had a good time. The food was mostly very good though one member of my party did complain that her food was just ok. The down side was the service, our order was taken by the waiter who just stood at one end of the table so those at the other end had to give their order several times, one member of my party was given food she had not ordered and despite saying she had not ordered it the dish was presented to her 3 times, eventually she had to go and find the manager to get her order filled correctly, 2 others (me included) had to wait 20 mins after everyone else was served before we got our main course. At the end of the meal despite the problems we had had with the service no apology was forthcoming and no reduction or any kind of recompense was offered. Despite the good food the evening was spoilt by the poor service. I would not return to this branch.

My friends and I were treated very poorly by the manager. I was running late and he told my friends (that had arrived on time) that I needed to arrive in the next 10 minutes or we'd lose the booking. He went on to lecture my friends about how when you book for 5:30, you need to arrive at 5:30 (which they did). He told them that I would need to look at the menu online and put my order over the phone. He told us we would have to leave by 6:30 (so only 1 hour having the table) which is crazy- what type of restaurant only gives you 1 hour at the table. In the end they didn't rush us to leave, as another colleague with seniority stepped in. That being said, how we were initially treated out a damper on the evening.

Great food, but service could have been better and more timely.

So-so service and food but convenient to nearby theatres. Harsh fluorescent lighting.

Absolutely appalling service for a restaurant/café of such a big name. When we arrived, the staff told us that they did not have tables available for 8 people, I had already made a booking and had to go back-and-forth with them before they decided to just put a few tables together to accommodate the booking that they couldn’t seem to find on the system. Our waiter was extremely rude, rushing us to choose items from the menu, he had a VERY bad attitude and was generally unpleasant. Later, when we were eating, the ceiling began leaking on one of my nephews. We told the waiter and he said there is nothing he can do. No apology, just defensive rude. I mentioned that maybe it wasn’t a good idea to have people sitting underneath a part of the ceiling that leaks, he said, that the air con unit always leaks and that my nephew should move somewhere else if he wanted to, then walked off (the air con unit is not even the part that was leaking it was the ceiling.. Drinks also took forever to come. When the bill came, we decided to split it. About 2 of us had already paid, the the rest had their cards out, waiting to pay but for some reason the waitress just ran away with the card reader?? We were confused as to where she had gone, she then came back with a team of other staff claiming that we were refusing to pay the rest of the bill?? At this point it was beyond ridiculous and we then had to explain that we were actually waiting for her to come round to the other side of the table before she just up and left with the card reader. The whole thing was a shambles, it is no surprise that we paid our bill, but not the service charge. Which they had the nerve to get upset about and question our reasons for not paying. We pointed out each and everyone one of their rude staff and explained the air con and bill situation. We even showed them the wet patches on my nephew from the water leak. The Westfield branch is better, avoid this one like the plague.
