However, a local told us about Il Colonnello and then drove us there, and asked a young lady working there his daughter’s friend to take care of us. We were very pleased with the food and the service! My wife had the house red which was good. For antipasto we had tarts with porcini and tomato. One tart was fried polenta, and delicious. We then had porcini tortellini and the cinghiale wild boar large servings of each. Well done and worth a repeat. The young lady then found another local eating there who, with his wife, drove us back down to the train station in Contea. A wonderful afternoon, great food, and outstanding people. Prices were notably less than we had feared for a higher end restaurant. We’d go back anytime, and would heartily recommend.
We recently went for two meals and they were both delicious. The restaurant has a varied menu with anti pasti, pasta and secondi menus. I tried the wild boar tagliatelle and the steak Aplina which were full of flavour and cooked beautiful. The house wine was very palatable with a delicious vin Santo dessert wine which is worth going for alone. The creme catalana (similar to creme brulé was the perfect way to end the meal. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The restaurant is located quite high in the mountains meaning there are some mosquitos around if you sit outside so best to wear a good repellent.
We had several times dinner at Il Colonnello and as well the service as the food was outstanding. Very friendly staff! Best ravioli ever had. Nice seating etc etc
After years we took advantage of a path to appreciate the foliage of the casentino, of course we returned for mushrooms. pappardelle, abundant but come cold and after a few minutes from the order (followly not expressed,) then cut to the mushrooms that is served only if in two, but I think the portions are insufficient for two, a part of the tray is occupied by a lettuce leaf. Finally fried mushrooms, excellent. even a tyramisu in the norm. mushrooms at will, but the rest must be treated.
What do you mean to the colonel? fabulous mushrooms, ciccia bona, bono wine, spectacular tortelli. all at a very affordable price. stars without passing through the street! Come on.
