El Tarasco Mexican Food - Lomita

This place was seriously one of my favorites ever! I would go here all the time because their food was delicious and lightyears ahead of el burrito or anything else in the neighborhood. Well tonight I ordered over the phone for pickup. I ordered 2 shredded beef super deluxe burritos and 2 shredded beef tacos. By the time I got home and opened it up...I had 2 ground beef tacos and two burritos stuffed with ground beef, asada and shredded beef. It was absolutely horrible and I've never had a bad meal here in my life. If you don't have shredded beef say something over the phone... don't just give me a mixed bag of whatever you have on hand. Super disrespectful considering the whole meal was 35 bux. I don't know if there are new owners or what but this is completely unacceptable. Train your staff and give customers what they actually order or say it's not available...sheeesh. I never leave bad reviews but I'm hurt by this after years of supporting this place. I won't give 1 star cause I'm not a complete jerk and I'm hoping tonight was a fluke. In reading other reviews here... it doesn't look like it.

So. I thought this was a partner restaurant to the El Tarasco in Redondo Beach. Apparently it wasn 't at all. Now, I can 't speak on the other food items they have. This review really is towards their California Burritos . I ended up at this location as it was on my way to my parents house. When I arrived for pickup, I will say the guy was polite and courteous which is why I didn 't rate only 1 star. My order wasn 't quite ready yet. While I waited, I grabbed a to go menu being my first time here. I quickly noticed the front of the menu said El Tarasco Burrito not just El Tarasco like I 'm use to. When quickly going through the menu, the light went on inside as I realized this was a completely different restaurant than the El Tarasco I usually go to as the two other locations on the front of the menu were different. Also.... The California Burrito was not even on the menu! So.... What were they making me? Lol. Long story short, I got the three California burritos home. Two chicken one carne asada. Both the Asada and Chicken were terrible! My family and I all thought they had NO flavor, the meat was super fatty and gristly. Runny pinto beans inside as well. I was done three bites in. Again can 't speak on the other food. But DO NOT ORDER THE CALI BURRITOS. You 're welcome.

I've been going to El Tarasco for years and their food has been consistently good. They even catered a couple parties for me. My favorite hands down is the carnitas, but I've tried several of their burritos and platters and all are delicious. I've tried the wet burrito twice and I'm sorry to say that I did not like it. The sauce is like a mole type sauce and while I like mole, I didn't enjoy this sauce. I felt like it just didn't go on a burrito. I've tried it on two separate occasions, just to see if I was tripping, but nope...I'm not. So if I get burritos from here, I'll just stick to a dry burrito. Now the burritos themselves are bomb! Full of meat and very filling. I usually get the carnitas plate. Their carnitas are always in big flavorful, tender chunks. It's never dry or flaked into tiny pieces like how some restaurants do it. The Carne Asada, chicken, and shredded beef is equally as delicious. Their salsa is also good, but I normally have to add a little salt to it. I know that they have to keep it a little basic to cater to everyone's palette, so adding a little salt after the fact is no problem. The night crew is always nice from my experience, especially since Covid. I feel like they're working even harder.

During a time of Stay at Home orders, this little place does so much to make your stay at home a pleasant one ! Still great service and attention to detail ! Very thoughtful and generous with everything. Some menu favorites: Shrimp Cocktail is so delicious and refreshing ! El Tarsaco Shredded Chicken Burrito has a great salsa verde with fresh red onion, cilantro and lime so tender and flavorful ! Jr Super Deluxe Burrito how can they call it junior ? It 's huge and comes with your choice of meat shredded or ground Beef, shredded chicken, maybe pork too beans, rice, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and your choice of salsa verde or red sauce. Whole Corn Tortilla chips with a mild red salsa for dipping hot and crispy! Beverages included with the Jr Super Deluxe Burrito include Orange Bang, Lemonade, or choice of soda drink. Crispy Tacos are also a great choice ! You 'll want to get a large order of Guacamole to go with your meal simple but so good ! Prices are still relatively pretty low here. You can order online or call for pick up or delivery. Do give them a try and it will really brighten up your day !

Wanted to enjoy this but the way they package their tacos to go, makes the tacos really soggy by the time you bring it home.
