We stopped here for lunch because it was recommended in tripadvisor. eating was good with local dishes, well served and fair price. the personal could be more nice for the customer, initially we were visited with someone who is not nice and not very polite....Thanks to that we were served by a woman who was very helpful and nice.
Our party of four were pleasantly surprised at how good this restaurant was. We arrived at our rental house that we had booked for the week and did not want to cook. We had researched restaurants in the area, (few), and decided to try it....We were welcomed with a friendly smile. The food was very good and the local Azorean wines that the son of the proprietor recommended were excellent. The food, service and value were great. On a final note, I returned on a Sunday to see if I could purchase a bottle or two of wine. (Most if not all retail stores are closed on Sundays). Again, I was pleasantly greeted and again, the son of the proprietor chose three bottles of very good wine for me to take. He knows his stuff!! Sorry that I did not get his name. If in the area, I recommend this restaurant. Note that Sunday they serve a buffet. Other days its a la carte.
A tiny local restaurant serving a host of Portuguese items from steaks and goat to fish fresh and preserved). We were making our way around the island and needed a spot in the northeast section and this looked like the best fit. As others have...noted, it doesn’t look like much from the front. The spot with all the activity on the left is the bar, to get to the restaurant you enter a nondescript white door on the right and head straight back to the dining room. On a Wednesday at 12:30 in September it was t too busy, mostly locals, and the charming server did a decent job translating the daily specials for us. The y have an English version of the regular menu. Note: portions are really big and in the €12-15 range for entrees. I got the cod fish bachalau) and my wife chose the grilled grouper. We got the local cheese St John) as a starter and good bread €1,50) was automatically delivered to the table. The restaurant was very clean and inviting and the service friendly. A pleasant lunch overall.
Location was easy to find and was seated right away for dinner. Food was so so they were accommodating for a vegetarian meal (vegans may have a harder time) and even brought out a side of veggie pasta to go along with the omelette....Husband has one of the beef specials of the evening his exact words “it was ok, nothing out of the ordinary”. Meal was pretty cheap even with a few glasses of wine. Desserts looked good but we didn’t have any.
