The rice paper rolls were fresh but lacked flavour, the spring rolls were enjoyabe and weren't too oily. For mains we ordered the pork and springroll noodle salad and salt and pepper soft shell crab. The noodle salad was quite filling and the pork was cooked nicely and had a good flavour to it. The soft shell crab was the highlight of the night for me. It was very well prepared and the batter was nicely flavoured and seasoned. The dish had a nice spiciness to it which wasn't too overpowering and was enjoyable. The service was quite good, the staff were attentive and the food was served on time. The place was however a bit cramped as it was full throughout the night which was a good sign I guess, but definitely book in advance for the weekends.
I was walking to my car at Market Square around 2.30pm and I suddenly felt hungry. I did a u-turn and walked to Miel Container, then I remembered my burger from Chompers yesterday. Wanting something different I walked around the corner to Hakataya. There were stools available but too crowded for my liking. Then I found myself staring inside Pho Hung with one customer inside. Fine, I walked in and the waitress ushered me to a table. Hot Chinese tea was provided within 30 seconds and I asked for a bowl of Pho Dac Biet (Combination Pho). The salad arrives, a smaller serve than Inala but adequate and very fresh. Minutes later my meal arrives in a bowl of piping hot soup. After the mandatory photo I add the salad and stir it through. I see a generous serve of sliced raw beef, cooked beef, tripe, beef balls and beef tendon. Everything looks perfect. I sip the hot soup then a second sip. The soup is acceptable but on the bland side. More beef bones should have been added to the beef stock to give it more depth. I enjoy the bowl of hot noodles despite the bland soup. Hopefully, the chef will improve on it before my next visit. Till next time Pho Hung!

We ordered beef pho and crispy chicken noodle soup. The soups are on the bland side but at least its served piping hot and not too oily like some other places. I notice that for non vietnamese customers they serve the cheaper herbs (mint) and for vietnamese customers they serve the basil when pho is ordered. Also, the vietnamese customers get hot tea and cold water offered without request. The staff member with long hair needs to improve her customer service skills. On entering she scowls and points at where she wants you to sit. On paying she not only scowls but snaps at you if you want to pay with credit card, despite a sign saying they offer this facility. On this occasion she gave us an abrupt excuse that the machine was broken. She said it with a very aggressive look on her face that made us feel bullied into paying cash. Not happy with the general feel and principles of practice of this business.
I was here with a friend on a Friday night two weeks ago. First time eating pho at this place. We got there at 7.30pm and it was chaotic. We both ordered a large Special Combination Beef Pho. The price difference between the regular size and large size was only a $1. The servings were larger than expected and was very happy. I managed to finish my pho, while my friend could only stomach 2/3 of it. I should have stopped two thirds of the way as well as I well and truly over-ate. The pho tasted great. The service not so great. In fact it was appalling. On one occasion we asked for soft drinks to which a waiter mumbled under his breath as though it was too hard to fetch drinks. Then we asked for some cutlery. Wow. We got the biggest eye-roll and were stunned. Admittedly, they were super busy and clearly understaffed. Although, in my opinion the waiters still should have exercised professionalism. I don't think muttering under one's breath or eye-rolling is ever warranted, nor would it be appreciated. Redeeming factors: Food was good (not great) and served rather promptly for a massively busy night. I hope to try this place again and hope my experience was just a once-off (bad) experience. Service - 2.5/5 Food - 3.5/5 Price - 3.5/5
