Palms Bar and Grill - Logan City

To be honest, I ate here because Kinn Thai was not yet open, I was hungry, and this place had room for the pram. But I was so impressed and happy with the choice! Firstly, you can't deny this is a gorgeous spot, it backs up against the water features in the mall and is very chic and modern inside. There were panel heaters suspended from the ceiling which were a welcome feature as it was quite breezy in the restaurant.  We opted for a collection of grazing plates (six for $49) to share and not one dish disappointed. If anything was not as good, it was the scallops, but that was only when compared to the other stellar dishes.  We had the dips with bread, meatballs (big and juicy), scallops, halloumi (in a gorgeous tomato sauce with chorizo, my favourite here), aranchini (cheesy goodness), and mushrooms (juicy and so flavoursome with deep-fried parsley on top). Plus a fattoush salad. All were beautifully presented, I was beyond impressed! Too often I find that beautiful restaurants have no substance behind their looks, but not the Palms.  The service was friendly and helpful, although I did wish the waiter was dressed a little nicer, his casual dress and demeanour seemed a bit at odds with the rest of the scene.  A surprising gem when you want to eat somewhere a little bit finer and prettier when at Garden City.

Love the atmosphere of this place. In such a great spot at Garden City, nice to sit out on the water and have a meal. Is expensive though and I feel the food isn't much worth the price so I've opted for their specials. Chips were great! Not much else to say about this place.

Ambiance (A) Located right next to the fountain, this restaurant offers the luxury of seating indoors with an outdoor setting. I personally found it really relaxing and chilled with the winter breeze. Food and Beverage (FB) Instead of mains, my friends and I actually got cocktails and just so happened it was the 2 for 1 cocktail night. Our cocktails were $14 each (regular price). ''Palms Pimms Cup'' Filled with various fruits, this cocktail was exceptionally refreshing. Topped with ginger ale and lemonade. ''Swipe Right'' A shot of Absinthe and Cointreau each. Masked by the combination of apple juice and Fanta, the cocktail leaves a very mild after taste of absinthe in your mouth. If you don't mind the liquorice taste, then you'll be delighted. Also comes with apple chunks for a munch. *On a side note, this restaurant is the sister-restaurant to Alchemy. The cooks have been trained at Alchemy before working at the Palms. Extremely eager to dine for the mains* Service (S) The owner/manager of the restaurant had took the initiative to check on our drinks. He was the outmost friendliest guy you could meet. He sat together and spent a good 10 minutes chatting with us. He even showed us his cocktail book; one that he looks to for inspiration for his recipes.
