Lockhart Cafe

Upon entering, the atmosphere felt reminiscent of a middle school cafeteria's storage room. We were a very large group, and our total bill was under $60, including tip. They seated us in a dimly lit room with brick walls and a few small booths, which had a cozy vibe, in a way. I ordered a cheeseburger, but my order was forgotten, and I was served last. To be fair to the waiter, we were probably the biggest group that this small restaurant has ever accommodated. It seemed that many locals were frequenting the place, including a lot of hunters. The staff was friendly, but I must admit I felt a bit uncomfortable and uneasy at how underprepared a professional restaurant could be, especially in such a very small town. Many items on the menu were out of stock, and the daily special was hastily written on a piece of receipt paper. When it came time to pay, they had a slow connection, causing a brief wait, but that wasn't a major issue. It was more concerning that they didn't have a working pen to sign my receipt. It was disheartening to see the cashier struggle to remember the prices and have to refer to the menu for our meals. It was even sadder to hear her consistently speak poorly about her own establishment. Overall, I felt uncomfortable throughout the entire experience.

Be prepared to pay significantly more than what the menu prices indicate. There’s no notice that the prices have changed. Something that was supposed to cost $11 ended up being over $14. It feels a bit deceptive. This was my first visit, and it’s likely to be my last.

They have a fantastic selection of delicious food. I had a great experience dining here. The staff is always friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the place is consistently clean.

The food was excellent, and the restaurant was clean. That was the largest burger I've ever seen! I got a burger, fries, and tea for just $8.

This cafe is currently closed. I'm unsure what it will turn into next, which is why I gave it just one star. I hope it transforms into something that this area needs—whether it's a food establishment or something else entirely.
