Everything was lovely except for one meal, we couldn't figure out what it was, it was supposed to be crispy beef, but it was inedible, we tried one piece and it was like chewing through fried rubber or something, we'd ordered 2 and the whole meals were left untouched, all of us agreed it wasn't good, sadly these were charged for although we'd said they were inedible to the waiter, £13 for each maybe, not sure, but wasted. Atmosphere nice.
Dated decor. Crispy duck starter very tasty but main courses very disappointed. Fried rice bland and soggy. Prawns with veg very bland. Beef in black peppers sauce , green chilli made too hot to eat. When we paid bill explained our view to a manager but she just said sorry. I wasn’t asking for our money back, I wasn’t going to pay £56 for food that was Esther bland without expressing my view. As I told the manager I won’t be going again.
Food always good but needs to sort lift out. Last time got stuck in it. Today there was a sign on the lift saying “be patient lift slow” What is that all about! Before anything serious happens please sort out
The Dim Sums were very bland and disappointing especially as they are supposed to be specialised in them, how ever the mains sweet sour prawn and beef in black bean) was very good, the atmosphere was great and very busy so service was as expected a little slow. The price was very expensive 3 dim sums, 2 mains 1 rice, 1 beer, 1 water came to £75.00 which is a lot for 2 people at lunchtime, there are better and cheaper restaurants in Liverpool so won’t be going back there is anytime soon.
We came to Tai Pan on the 24th of September, we arrived at around 1 PM and the queue to get a table wasn't long at all. If anything the wait time for a table is normally along the lines of 5 25 minutes but can vary. We visited after re opening, the staff were great and the food was spectacular. The restaurant was large and very open, we went on a Sunday afternoon it wasn't too noisy but fairly busy. The only downsides were that the food did take a while to come but was understandable due to the restaurant being very busy. We also had to ask a few times to get a staff member's attention but apart from that they were all amazing. I would recommend Tai Pan to anybody who would like a wonderful Chinese cuisine experience, there is also a supermarket underneath which is also worth a visit while you are there.
