This is the local French restaurant I like to dine for the last few years. I love the unassuming style of interior decor. The resulting atmosphere is sort of comfort and peace. They have lots of customers and booking is a must. The serving staff are courteous and experienced. I like their pork belly and burramundi most. For desserts, I like mango soufflé most of all. They are famous for their desserts. You won't feel disappointed if you dine here!
My husband and I specifically chose Cafe Lyon for the Vegetarian menu. It's rare to find a French restaurant that provides an entire page of Vegetarian options, and we really appreciated that.Service was impeccable, despite it being packed for a Thursday night. Definitely make a reservation! Ambience was good as well, although you will be seated 50cm from other tables so you'll have to deal with listening to others conversations but that's par for the course.The food was delicious, adequate portion sizes and beautifully presented. The goats cheese tart was my pick over the haloumi entree, although I thought making the haloumi look and taste like a fish finger was clever, just not as substantial as the tart. The roast veggie plate was yummy and generous in portion size, as was my husband's beef. We both fell for the chocolate fondant for dessert and it did not disappoint. A tad small but perfectly cooked with ooey gooey goodness!I would have given this restaurant 5 stars had it not been for the fact that the vegetarian menu is priced identical to the meat menu. The price comparison of my veggie plate to the Barramundi and Salmon mains would have cost less than half to produce, yet it was the same fixed price. Currently the price is $55 for 2 course and $68 for 3 course. However, I think a fairer price for vegetarians would be $40 for 2 course, $55 for 3 course.If you are not vegetarian, this restaurant is worth putting on your visit list. Apart from the price gouging for carrot eaters, there was nothing else that would stop me from coming back again.
