Under the current ownership this is now an alternative restaurant to the Bay House. Because this room has been a bar, the lighting is dim. Many of us used our phones to read the menu. We ended up splitting a pizza and found it delicious. I wished tugs menu had a few more appetizers choices. The staff was friendly and helpful. It did seem more servers were needed.
The fine dining room at Salishan is much improved. The service was gracious and efficient, without being rushed. The menu focuses on just a few mains, but with a range of options that would satisfy almost everyone. It's upscale, but not pretentious. The seats are cushioned and comfortable, the tables are well-spaced, and the noise level is low. We had the lamb shank special. It was tender and tasty, with an intense reduction sauce. It came with a large serving of fresh-cooked vegetables--unusual in many fine-dining restaurants, and nice polenta. There's a mega-wine list, but I suspect most customers will choose from the by-the-glass options. We're happy we have it another try, after some years of staying away.
We just had dinner at Salishan resort and it was the worst meal I have had in a long time. The service was terrible it took almost an hour to get our food. My friend ordered the chicken and it came with the skin on it, gross. I ordered a sandwich that came with mayo instead of pesto aioli, when I complained I was told that is their aoili. Very expensive and not worth it
Valentine 's Day at Salishan what better way to see if efforts made by the dining room staff to improve on some inconsistent efforts in the recent past were paying off? We had seen a special prix fixe holiday dinner advertised in local press and decided to give Salishan another try. At $95 per couple, including a bottle of wine, we felt the value was there, at least. On arrival, we noticed Salishan was much busier than we had seen it recently. The fact of it being Valentine 's Day and a Friday at the start of a three day weekend probably contributed. Nevertheless, the dining room was far busier than we had ever seen it. We were seated in a large room separate from the modest size dining room from our earlier visits and were impressed that obvious efforts had been made to serve dinner to a large number of guests in a very comfortable setting. By the time we left, the large room was nearly full. Our server Christin did an excellent job of being present when needed but she was not hovering. We ordered from the special menu and were not disappointed. The only negative was the pear/walnut salad included canned pears it would have been better with either fresh pears or berries. To our surprise, the included bottle of Pinot Noir was not inexpensive (Vivino said it was available for $32). The chateau briand entree with crab salad garnish, Dijon whipped potatoes, and grilled asparagus was ample in size and delicious. Two offered deserts marionberry cheesecake and flourless chocolate torte were each excellent. Overall we were very favorably impressed. Salishan seems to be trying hard to overcome what had been a weak dining experience. We hope it continues.
Well, Salishan made some dining changes that I 'm not Pleased about. My wife and I come here regularly and enjoy it very much. But Salishan decided to serve meals in only one restaurant at a time. Breakfast in the Sunroom, Lunch in the Attic Bar and dinner in their fine restaurant. Every time we 've come here we enjoyed dinner in either the Sunroom or the dining room. We had a big lunch earlier so only wanted something smaller in the Sunroom only to find out that it 's only open for breakfast. Big mistake. So you 're forced to eat in the dining room and have a $40 dinner per person. Food in the dining room is just OK. Way too many sauces and pretty garnishes. I had clam fettuccine that was so salty I drank four glasses of water. My wife had turkey leg with super salty brown gravy. I think when you stay in a nice hotel, you should have dining options and the closing of the sun room for dinner was a HUGE disappointment. Maybe one of the other 4 total entree choices would have been better, but I wasn 't a fan of the ones we made.
