The Smith Central - Lincoln

We are regulars here and it's the only place we'd get our fish and chips in Lincoln. Traditional fish and chips are always on point, I love the proper Lincolnshire battered sausages. The staff are friendly and always remember us when we go in, definitely...worth a visit as they are now open certain times during the pandemic, two people at a time with marked places to stand, quick service too.

What a great improvement from my last visit, the chips are back to their high standard as is the fish they must have taken notice of adverse comments,this will definitely be my regular again

This used to be great fish and chips but now the fish is overcooked and greasy and the chips are well overcooked as if they have been cooked twice, they must be using cheaper chips as they taste like frozen ones, really dissapointing, the staff...are lovely

Relative in Lincoln hospital and not enjoying the food so we went looking for a chippy nearby. This was the one we found and it looked like one of those old school chip shops in appearance. It also had a backboard of delights prices! The thing with fish and chips is it’s not meant to be good. It’s quick, nice and hits the spot...normally around the heart. I don’t think this place had modern ideas like mayo or salad...and I don’t think it will ever serve their stuff in mock newspaper or out of a tiny frying pan. It is what it is. We got loads and huge portions. With four cans, we fed a group of nine for less than twenty quid. Chips were fatty and had scraps in with them. The spam fritter actually tasted really good. Curry sauce was a cup of curry and also brilliant. The batter needs improving to get the five stars. Seemed to not stick to anything but the paper. Nothing wrong with the rest

Over cooked fish, the batter was soggy and too greasy to eat having clearly not been drained. Over cooked wet with grease chips. Mushy peas just tasted weird and wrong so went direct to the bin! Colleague bought them for me back to the office....Will never be going there again! Try Burton Road Chippy to see what it should taste like!
