City Vaults - Lincoln

My group of four recently dined at this restaurant and found ourselves to be the only guests. The waitress seemed to have difficulty with the language barrier, as she did not understand when I wished her a happy new year in Cantonese. The service was slow, with our food arriving at different times and lukewarm by the time we were able to eat it. Despite this, the food was delicious and we enjoyed our meal. I can't help but wonder what the experience would be like on a busier night.

Great Chinese restaurant with a good menu and very attentive staff. The only problem we experienced was trying to book as trip advisor had entered the phone number incorrectly the number is 01522 510589 not 510598 shame on you trip advisor.

Had to go to Lincoln to get tickets for the Drill Hall, had to put 24 hours on the NCP so had the afternoon shopping Around six, we headed across the train lines to find The City Vaults. Again, we were the only diners in there. We had expected the same unusual menu but it had been shortened to a few traditional English style Chinese dishes, such a shame. We had Hot Sour Soup, Salt Pepper ribs (excellent), Veg Chow Mein, Chinese Duck, and Minced Pork with French beans (about 12 fiery red chopped chillies) my eyes were watering but I persisted. Would loved to have tried Duck Tongue or battered frog legs

We were the only ones in but it was only 6pm I don't usually favour menus with photos of the dishes but fried intestines and gizzards, battered frog legs, duck tongues. The fish dishes were unusual as well, New Zealand green lipped mussels in black beans, Turbot, crab, The menu was extensive. We went with plain noodles (for the boy) vegetable noodles for the girl, quarter duck and trimmings, sweet n sour chicken donuts, egg rice, hot n sour soup (excellent) bok choi in garlic sauce and lamb scorpion (which didn't arrive) probably our fault We would have liked to be more adventurous but the kids were turning their noses up at our suggestions. What we had was very good, perhaps we will return by ourselves and get stuck into something very different The tastes reminded me of an excellent restaurant above a Chinese supermarket I used to frequent 20 years ago so missed by today's mediocre eateries Very friendly waitress try the apple smoothy oh so fresh and naturally sweet food well presented on modern western white plates and not stingy on portion size

As far as I know, this is the only restaurant in Lincoln serving Dim Sum. This is enough for me to love this place! I had lunch there only once, and I had only Dim Sum overall, a very positive experience if you don't find Dim Sum in your menu, don't worry, just ask the waiter to have the menu with Dim Sum. I will definitely come back!
