It's in the university, it has no address that you can put in a Gps. Waiters are not used for tourists, so do not ask for recommendations. A Uber of Miraflores can be about $25.00, expensive for Lima. Other than that, food is delicious!
For me this is always a 'must go' visit when I go to Lima. It lies next to the main entrance of the Universidad Agraria, on the right side. First you will see a small peasant markets and flowers, and if you go further you will see the big wooden tables. There are a variety of foods. Everything is very authentic and delicious. We were always there for lunch, and we love it, especially on a sunny day. I tried a variety of BBQ style meat... Pachamanca, Chicharron, arroz con pato, cuy chactado... And drink, Chicha morada... and dessert Picarones! Yum! If it's busy, the service could be a little slower... But to be honest, it's worth waiting!
I’ve had their breakfast several times (tamales, chicharrones, lomito, bread, and coffee). I have never eaten lunch here. I like their tamales. They have the amount of spiciness that I like, and they aren’t dry. My husband loves their chicharrones (pork meat not rinds). They come with mote (called hominy in the US), slices of fried sweet potatoes, canchita (Peruvian popcorn) and salsa criolla (julienne onions with lemon and hot peppers). You make a sandwich with the chicharrones, sweet potatoes, salsa and bread. The bread is good. The coffee is ok, nothing special. The best thing is the location and atmosphere. It’s quiet and there are a lot of birds and trees. The tables are outside, and it feels like you’re eating at a picnic table in a remote place. There are shops and a little farmers market that sell natural products. Buying from them can be a little bit complicated. You have to tell them what you want, they write down the order, you pay at one of the cashiers (caja) and come back with your receipt to pick up your order. I use Uber to get to this place. What surprises me is that the drivers don’t know this place exists. They always think I’m going to the university and try to drop me by the entrance. The restaurant is right before the entrance to the university, on the right, where the farmers market starts, then you have to walk until you see the tables at the end of the alley.
The restaurant at Universidad Agraria La Molina offers traditional Peruvian cuisine in a relaxing outdoor setting. The menu offers the opportunity to try the guinea pig which is a staple in the mountains of Peru. The restaurant offers outside dining with the comfort of feeling on a farm outside of Lima. They also have a variety of shops including local foods, items made by hand, and plants.
