Thai Smile - Lichfield

I am saddened to report that this restaurant has closed its doors. It is a disappointment as the food was excellent. Passing by the location recently, I noticed that the signage has been removed and the restaurant is now empty with paper covering the windows. It is unfortunate that there are no more smiles to be seen.

I constantly find myself waiting for them to take a food order on Just Eat. They consistently cancel the orders.

I tried calling for 3 hours to make a reservation but couldn't get through, the phone just kept ringing with no answer. I even visited the restaurant twice in the afternoon, but it was closed. Despite trying other restaurants in Lichfield without a reservation, it was impossible.

As all my colleagues had returned home and I had one night on my own I headed to this Thai restuarant as my colleagues are not keen on Thai. First up had a choice between the buffet or the main menu. Buffet menu looked good but decided on Tempura Prawns followed by Duck curry with tomatoe, pineapple and grape with egg fried rice. I was brought some Thai prawn crackers with a sweet chili dipping sauce. The crackers had a lovely texture and the sauce had a nice little kick. The prawns were delicious with a lovely light batter and good chilli dipping sauce. The duck curry had a wonderful sweetish taste with a gentle kick, The duck was lovely and tender. Really nice meal and I would certainly return.

I have lived in Lichfield for 2 years and initially ate at Thai Rainbow and Mama Thai but following their Hygiene ratings reducing to 2 and 1 respectively decided to try Thai Smile with friends. We were not disappointed. Sharing platter was a perfect introduction followed by sharing dishes of Drunken Duck, Beef Massamanm Prawn Stir Fry, Chicken Red curry with Jasmine and Sticky Rice. All of the dishes were excellent but the duck in particular has a kick. We will definitely return. The price is excellent value for great quality food in very clean attractive surroundiings. The staff are very pleasant and the older lady has a lovely smiile and warmth. Highly recommend,
