The Black Board Bistro - Libby

Used to be the best place for a great meal, great service and good wine. All cooked to order in a nice bistro atmosphere small group tables. Reservations required. Didn't mind the cost as a special treat for a great meal was worth it. Was one of our favorites. But... the last time we dined here, the service was ok to marginal, not first class and our dinner could only be compared to a skillet pasta, no more three or four courses. The only other choice was pizza. RUKM? Still high price. I wrote the owner on our receipt asking if he was going out of business. Haven't been back since as I can't justify the cost of food I could get out of a box. To be fair, it's been over a year since we went here. Miss having a nice place to dine out.

I had a wonderful experience during my second visit to Blackboard Bistro, and it certainly lived up to my expectations. The service was exceptional, and the restaurant itself was beautifully maintained and spotless. The food was nothing short of a culinary delight; I tried the scallops, which were absolutely delicious. This is the kind of experience I'd typically associate with a major metropolitan area, and even then, it would be impressive. The menu is quite limited, and the exterior of The Black Board Bistro isn’t very welcoming. It’s situated in a house on the outskirts of town, and a pleasant outdoor patio would have been a great addition. Given that I was on vacation surrounded by the beautiful Montana wilderness, I felt unsure about whether I could enter dressed in my t-shirt, shorts, and hiking boots.

This charming restaurant has made a fantastic impression on me! The welcoming hosts, delicious food, beautiful presentation, great wine, and delightful desserts all stand out.
