Shoto’s has probably got to be the best Japanese food in Lexington. Though it is not a Japanese Steakhouse with a fancy show, this family owned restaurant packs a ton of flavor in their amazing dishes. I also love the ability to create a hibachi or teriyaki dish with your own preferences of veggies, spice, etc. are taken into consideration. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys Asian cuisine for a reasonable price. Also shoutout to Jimmy and his delicious drinks!
Waitresses were wonderful and the service was great but this is definitely not traditional Japanese cuisine as the restaurant implies. I would describe this restaurant as fusion. I can promise you no one would offer you waffle fries under hibachi or chicken and cheese fried dumplings at a true “Japanese steakhouse”. I would suggest Kabuki on Cotton Grove if you are looking for more authentic Japanese cuisine. The person I went to eat with at Shoto was equally disappointed as this was not their past experience at the restaurant. I guess the menu has been recently reconstructed. Overall great service but the food was very questionable. Atmosphere felt a bit judgmental and stuffy, there was not a lot of space for larger parties of people looking to eat together.
Food was excellent! our waiter was great! prices were decent; sadly they got our order wrong we had to wait a long time, when it came out, it was still wrong we didn't say anything else due to how long we had to wait already. This restaurant is in need of an extreme deep cleaning, as carpets were dirty dingy, facility was dusty, and bathrooms wet and moldy. Yikes. If we go back, it would be for take out.
Always a good meal! The edamame was hot with incredible spices. Never disappointed!
