Contribuiți la feedbackWhat a delightful surprise and treat! We were planning on getting a snack before exploring the newly opened art museum and instead we experienced a culinary and visual delight. From the outside eating area , you were overlooking the river and beautiful vista. The inside cafe was also tastefully decorated and comfortable. It is a fixed priced menu .three courses for $22 Canadian and each course was gourmet in taste and presentation. Even the iced tea was unique and delicious...And this was the cafe in the museum, but we noticed many of the local diners came just to eat at the cafe.
We had lunch here after visiting the museum. The museum is quite nice so after spending about three hours visiting we decided to try the Restaurant du Musee for lunch. The dining room is very modern with spectacular views of the battlefields. This is where the spectacular ends. The food is average and we didn't find it very fresh. We had a light lunch which included an asparagus omelet and a quiche lorraine, both served with salads. The salads were wilted and drowned in dressing. The omelet was ok and the quiche wasn't quite fresh. The passion fruit and caramel dessert was fine. We may give them another chance in the summer- for the view! If you go, go for the view!
Excellent service, beautiful view, okay food. For the weary traveler, this is a pleasant stop. Would love to be able to say that the meal was great, but it wasn't--it was decent (except for the dessert, a lemon meringue coupe that was not edible--the meringue was granular and too sweet, the lemon liquid--and we were offered the option to select another dessert but we declined). What is delightful is the view onto the park, the beautiful museum setting, and the warm welcome and great service.
Nice options for fresh ingredient small portion gourmet food, excellent service walking the extra mile, nice view if you book a window table in advance. However, 13 $ for a kid's pasta dish with some chesse and no juice or dessert is scandalous!
This is a lovely restaurant with a nice friendly atmosphere. The service is reasonably good but just a bit slow. The wait staff is fairly professional. But the real attraction is the menu. They always have interesting options and everything is top quality. I had a grilled cheese with confit de carnard and caramelized onions. This is really gourmet grilled cheese. My husband had a deep dish quiche that was not in the least bit dry and very tasty with lots of vegetables. Both were served with a nice salad. With a glass of wine for both of us, no desserts but including a cappuccino, a tea, plus tip and taxes, the bill came to $62. Make sure to reserve as they fill up quickly. Ask for a table by the windows.
