Yet again another spot that they also don’t allow dogs now. Why are you taking away everybody’s freedom? I cannot get over how disgusting and inhuman these rules are. Especially those signs behind the park. I’m still going to collect my mushrooms there and take my dog. Whoever made this happen should be absolutely ashamed.
Very nice park. If you need to get out of the house and go touch grass, this is a nice place for it. Took my 11yr old and she enjoyed it, though it got too dark to checkout the waterfalls (next time). The place is well kept but still woodsy feeling. Little muddy right now as we just had some rain/snow and there are ice patches off the trail. The page by page storybook is a nice idea. Overall definitely a nice park and we 'll be back. I like that there are regular benches/picnic tables and some portaporties. Very handy.
They have done ALOT of work here since I was young. I grew up down here as I only lived the next street over. They should have redone the tennis courts. As far as I know, Leominster has no public tennis courts. The courts at Doyle field are part of an association and you have to pay to use them. The pond is in good shape and is well stocked seasonally, although I miss the large school of gold fish that used to hang out in the back right corner. Trails are easy and well marked. Gazeebo is really nice, but what is it being used for? Wish dogs were allowed. Leominster could really use a dog park with a pond so they can run and swim. Playground is clean and taken care of well.
This use to be a great place to go walking/hiking but over the years it has changed. Though the scenery is still beautiful the park no longer allows dogs not only in the main park but as of today there are signs in the conservation land banning dogs. People trying to blame it on owners not picking up after their animals but that is only half the issue. Apparently they received a grant that stipulates no dogs allowed or so I have been told by a neighbor of park.
The pond was lovely with a gravel path all the way around. Connects to some hiking paths at the rear of the lake. The birds were incredibly talkative and the smell of blooming flowers was just everywhere. No dogs allowed though.
