Even something as simple as watching the news became frustrating as broadcasts frequently paused and buffered due to limited bandwidth. Don’t expect personalized service despite the high price. There’s literally no staff present in the building after hours, which is surprising—it felt like we would receive better service at an economy motel down the street. Instead of a traditional front desk, check-in is handled by whoever is at the bar. Instead of just asking the front desk for the Wi-Fi password, you need to call one of two numbers. You’d think they might compensate for the absence of a front desk by providing useful information about the hotel and local attractions, but that seems to be too much to ask. The phone numbers provided for assistance are less than satisfactory. The first number goes unanswered after business hours, and the second might connect you to someone on call, although their voicemail doesn’t specify that, so you’re left unsure if you’re reaching a Whitlock employee or someone unrelated. Additionally, a chat bot intended for inquiries completely failed to respond, which is incredibly frustrating for guests. While it’s clear this is a cost-saving approach that maximizes profits for the ownership, I don’t mind paying a premium for a nice place to stay—yet a hotel with invisible staff doesn’t fit that definition. A hotel unable to provide decent Wi-Fi service isn’t particularly nice, and one without any capability to address emergencies or issues outside of regular hours raises safety concerns. Given their pricing, they should offer much more personalized service.
Beautiful hotel located right in town! The level of service is top-notch, rooms are clean, property is wonderful. Lots of different areas to hang out in. They have books and games available and an old-timey bar. Got cookies at check-in!
The property itself is very nice, charming, and well maintained. It is located right off the Main Street, which was perfect for wandering in town. It was also close to the nearby Tanglewood music venue, which is a great experience. The staff was all very welcoming and friendly. We loved their use of texting to make contacting the “front desk” easier. The rooms were very clean, very nice. Our room was a bit smaller than expected. We weren’t expecting anything grand, but there wasn’t a lot of room around our queen sized bed. The TV system is nice once you figure it out, but it seemed a bit complex for less tech savvy guests. Basically, they just have an Apple TV for you to use, instead of live TV. The downsides for us were value and noise. I understand weekend pricing will be higher than weekdays, but this was the most expensive lodging of our 2 week trip, and we easily got the least for what we paid. It felt priced for people who had no other choice, or didn’t know better, which we fell into. And for that high price, we didn’t even get a good night’s sleep. The building is old, which usually means loud, creaky, and thin walls. Other guests were loud in the hallways until early morning hours, but we weren’t going to call the after hours phone number and wake someone up just for this. And confronting another guest didn’t seem like the right thing either. Overall, it’s a nice place in a nice location with nice people, I am just wary of the value for what you pay.
It was hard to find the entrance and there was very little parking. We had to park in front of the dumpster which meant my husband had to move the car later. There were still no spots at 11pm (restaurant staff? , so he had to get up early the next morning. The innkeeper was not there when we arrived and the folks at Max were not happy that we asked if we were in the correct place. Website is deceiving. Much of the public space is actually attached to the restaurant and hard to use if not dining. It was very loud as we were over the restaurant as well. Need to update the website as we were unsure about breakfast and Ophelia 's is no longer there. Bed was lovely as was the bathroom. No place to put a suitcase and no full length mirror. TV was extremely unintuitive. I would probably try one of the other properties next time.
The restaurant is situated in a prime location within the central area of Lenox. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are impeccably clean, and the beds are very comfortable. However, there are a few downsides: the building is not modern, meaning there is no elevator. If you have any physical limitations, it's best to contact the hotel in advance to ensure suitable accommodations. Additionally, some rooms may lack adequate sound insulation.
