The menu offers traditional teas for the most discerning palate—Earl Gray and Darjeeling from India, black from Nepal. But just shift your gaze a little to the right of the menu board and suddenly, you’re confronted with new flavor offerings in creative pairings: I ordered an intriguing tea mixture called “RJ’s Blues,” which was a delicious mix of butterfly pea tea, hibiscus and cashew milk. I sipped and sipped and my senses were like, mm mm mmmmmore…But WAIT! Unitea is much MORE than a tea house. They also have a small menu of Filipino food, because Unitea is owned and operated by that chef with the perfect palate, Aniceto (J.R) Reña, formerly of Timpla, Cosme and Kaliwa. Whatever J.R. chooses to serve that day or weekend, be it the vegetable-laden kare-kare with the melt-in-your-mouth beef, or the pitch-perfect palabok, or the elevated tocino that looks like it belongs in any five-star restaurant, that dish will explode in incredible flavor in your mouth and will have the authenticity that will make you want to take your Filipino mom there when she comes to visit. And I didn’t even talk about the ube crinkles…The dining menu is small enough that I recommend bringing 2-3 friends and order everything. This warm, charming place with its great food and family feel is one of my new favorite places to eat, and it should be yours too.
How can you not love this place? First and foremost, you can clearly tell that this cafe is family run and that they love what they’re doing. The owner served us and was super kind, making me want to come back before I had even tried the teas. Once I had my two teas, Gong Mei Cha (white tea) and a Mich Please (w/ boba), this place instantly became a personal favorite. Delicious teas and flavor combinations, not to mention perfect boba, combined with a very cozy interior consisting of several rooms with windows facing downtown. Would rate Unitea 6/5 stars if I could! Will definitely be coming back to try the Bahn Mi, which other reviewers have praised!
The boss is always Excellent! I would end up eating more every time we dine as the Pinoy food is quite good. Not to mention the selections for drinks with boba.
Great service. The owner gave us recommendations based on our dietary preferences. We shared a few dishes, I got the avocado toast and a Pilipino chicken dish that was super tasty. The tea was on point. It was my friends birthday and we got the tres leches cake to celebrate which was AMAZING. All made fresh by the owner himself. 10/10 would go back and also recommend to others to try!
Their food is delicious the staff is fantastic. I went to the chiropractor upstairs (excellent beyond words) at the Om center and then stopped at the bottom cafe because there was a cute fireplace and sitting area. I've tried their rice porridge bowl and I've craved it every day after I've had it. The bubble teas and regular teas are fantastic and the gluten free cookies.... Oh my goodness. Good luck only eating one. Love it here
