Vesper Gate Sizzling Pubs - Leeds

I went to this restaurant for dinner on a quiet Friday evening. My group ordered 3 small plates and 2 loaded fries. After waiting around 40 minutes, the bartender came and informed us that they couldn't find the squid, so we all decided to order the crispy chili beef instead. When the food finally arrived, one bowl was filled with large pieces of beef while the other two bowls were only half full of small, rock-hard pieces that were impossible to eat. We sent them back, and after 3 minutes, more beef arrived, but it was still frozen in the middle. We complained again, and were offered dessert, but it never arrived after 20 minutes in an empty pub. Even the loaded fries were the worst I've ever had. I left feeling sick and hungry.

I haven't dined at this restaurant in years, and I must say the food was amazing! We ordered three small plates, which were actually very generous portions. The chicken tenders with chicken gravy were incredible, as was the nachos with slow-cooked chilli beef brisket. The fish goujons had the perfect batter. Everything was freshly made from scratch, nothing was pre-packaged. Unfortunately, we enjoyed the food so much that we forgot to take pictures before we finished it! The staff were extremely friendly, and having Staropramen on tap was a great bonus. Overall, a fantastic dining experience.

I don't know what happened, but the food was not as good this time. It was very bland, and the salad was soggy. We ordered puddings - a cheese cake with strawberries and a chocolate fudge with custard because they didn't have vanilla ice cream. When the cheese cake came out, it was a tiny wedge with sauce on the side. I asked where the strawberries were, and the server said it was strawberry sauce. I pointed out that the menu said strawberries, and he admitted they didn't have any. My mom was not impressed. The server asked what he could do, so I asked for the fudge cake with cream as well. He brought one over, which was much better. Unfortunately, we won't be returning here for a meal again.

It's a while since we went here, since giving up my car , but we took our daughter her partner there, last week. We all chose from a comprehensive menu, and as usual I opted for the chicken n' leek pie. Short pastry and more than simply scrumptious. All agreed that their choices were equally satisfying. And the plates couldn't have been more full. As usual, the area is spotless clean. And whilst the weather holds, a great outdoors seating area. Even a DJ providing the music for entertainment.

Why Oh why do former drinkers pubs who decide to turn into resturants fail so badly. The interior is very nice and well presented However the food is not of an acceptable standard level, If only they put a bit more effort into the quality and presntation the food this would be gem of a business
