The Rodley Barge - Leeds

My daughter was completing a charity bike ride along the Leeds Liverpool Canal today 25/06 and as she is disabled and in a wheelchair we needed an accessible toilet on route half way. We were planning on using the Rodley Barge and had checked it had facilities and would be open. We rang ahead and checked everything too. We arrived at the pub 5 mins before opening time and the staff and manager were present. We asked if she could use the toilet and we’re told firstly this would have to be checked by the manager, when the manager arrived she said she couldn’t use the toilet because she didn’t open up until midday. She was rude and unhelpful. We then had to find somewhere with accessibility in Rodley and thanks to the wonderful staff and owner of Fraiche Cafe who was beyond helpful. The Rodley Barge is to be avoided awful experience, awful manager.

Was not pleasant from going in to leaving, it was the worst lunch I have ever had, literally uneatable l had the fish and chips my daughter had the steak pie neither of us could eat it. They took payment on ordering, which is strange and did not see the staff again not recommended and would not go back again. To be fair the beer was really good just don't touch the food.

After a walk along the canal with our dog (6 miles! we were more than ready for some sustenance. As dogs are welcome we ventured in and out to the canal side area with pooch in tow. A quick peruse of the menu and we quickly opted for Tuna Mayo sandwich with some chips to share. There were dog bowls and water available for our tired little mutt and a very warm welcome from the staff. Sandwiches quickly arrived, stuffed full of tuna and a fresh salad garnish (iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers and red onion . A small bowl of crisps was also provided. At £4.50 this was excellent value We had ordered a bowl of chips however were presented with two! upon saying we only ordered one bowl, we were advised to share the second bowl with the dog : lovely lunch with a very well kept Leeds pale for my husband whilst a glass of lager hit the spot for me. Will be back although a shame food isn't served in the evening.

Manager was drunk and started swearing at us after a minute of walking in. We are locals as well. A shame as it’s lovely location.

After a long walk along the canal, myself and my fellow group members decided to meet up at this pub. Some members arrived there ahead of the rest of the group and used the toilet. The plan being that we all meet there and have lunch. However after being made to feel unwelcome by the barmaid for using the toilets we decided against it. So you missed out on the custom of 20 people because of your barmaid. Maybe have a word with your staff.
