Santa Cruz Vineria - Lecce

We waited a very long time for our food which seemed to arrive from offsite in large containers. We ordered meatballs which were cold and a gratin which was tiny. The man who seemed to be the head waiter took a long time with other customers food too. When the neighbouring table, a nice young couple we exchanged pleasantries with, asked how long the food would be (they had waited over 40 minutes) the man threw his hands in the air and shrugged “no fast food.” The woman was heavily pregnant and wondered how much longer for some quick food as she needed to eat something. The waiter then said f you to the customers. We were really shocked that someone would speak to their customers like that. They were only asking how long for the food! How horrible to treat other humans in this way! Recommend to avoid this place. The food is very mediocre.

For our evening meal in Lecce my boyfriend and I choose a table on the terrace of Vineria Santa Cruz, situated in a busy street with lots of restaurants and bars. We ordered only the antipasti, because we were not very hungry. The antipasti were nice, but to be honest, we've had better in Puglia. The atmosphere on the terrace was nice and relaxed and we got served very quickly. The house wine was ok, but not really memorable. The glasses were not as clean as should be expected, which I found a bit surprising for a Vineria.

Nice place with very friendly staff. Beautiful selection of beers and wines, beautiful Apperitivi and the only place in Lecce we could find a decent cup of tea.

Lovely narrow street with great views of the old buildings all round about. Lovely tables under the parasols, helpful staff and a simple menu. The food service was fast and very tasty, it would have been easy to sit and drink away the rest of the day. Lovely, thank you to all the team.
