Ava's Island Cafe - Leavenworth

Love this place and need to go back! My husband had oxtail and I had the gyro. The owners are so friendly, I love the atmosphere and their food it great!Food: 5/5

I ordered food from Ava’s yesterday. The oxtail had too much fat and no flavor and the rice was just plain white rice. I had Ava’s before but it was better but still the fat wasOn the oxtails. Please be consistent with your food. If you’re not making the rice with flavor then don’t serve it. You have a standard menu please don’t pick and choose how you cook the food. The oxtails yesterday had no flavor/seasoning. Probably will not return unless they can guarantee authentic food.

I had one of the best meals of my life at Ava's. I have never been to Jamaica, but I feel sure that I've tasted some of the best cuisine they have to offer. It was a great night out with my two girls. We all loved our food! We tried oxtail, j chicken and fish and chips. All were perfectly cooked and delicious!Food: 5/5

Okay, so I have been first wanting REALLY good curry for awhile and asking around is Ava's good. There were a ton of mixed options and some...hesitant answers. Nonetheless I went finally to find out for myself. Oh my goodness, definitely should have taken all those opinions to mind and listened to my first mind and not gone to Ava's. I'm convinced Leavenworth at this point has absolutely NO good restaurants at all here. My curry chicken was rushed cooked, very bland to taste, and my rice was very dry looking and tasting. Everyone knows you cannot rush chicken to cook. It's just gross when you do...and I got gross from Ava's. My food did not have that curry kick in seasoning, the chicken was very tough, and I was disappointed. I threw my food away which was VERY hard for me to especially knowing the price of food these days. I do not recommend this place at all. You are definitely better off attempting curry yourself than wasting your time going here just to be disappointed ?. Hard lesson learned for me.

Not all Jamaicans make oxtail the same but they clearly left the Jamaican out of the oxtail. Bomba ross clotted brethren them.
