The House of Spuds - Launceston

Completely blown away by this place. I honestly wasn't expecting anything great based on the location and shop appearance, but I was pleasantly surprised. Seriously good spuds.

Bought their snack pack with cheese, sour cream, bacon and coleslaw ($11.50) for my kids as a snack and they really loved it. Only complaint was that there was too much cheese which kind of overpowered the taste of the potato. Bacon bits were probably cooked with garlic and oil which made everything extra flavoursome. Easy parking, polite staff and quick service. Good for a quick snack, eat in or takeaway.

The humble tayta with all of your favourite fillings. Very good value at $8-$13 per potato dependent on size and filling. Plenty of choice for all of the family. The special for the day was curried scallops!!More of a takeaway than a sit in, we took outs to the river front nearby and ate them there. So glad we found this place at the beginning of our holiday, we shall return!!!

I purchased the "super spud" which included cheese, bacon, coleslaw & sour cream. The potato was mashed which I thought made the meal easier to eat with the plastic fork that was provided. The topping was rather salty to my taste so I did not finish the serving. As takeaway food goes, there is better out there. The premises were adequate & the staff pleasant.

We have regularly purchased spuds from this business over the last few years and some have been more enjoyable than others. However had we not already taken these back with us to the Roseveares area for lunch.We would have taken them back the bolognese spud which had very little potato with no bottom to it a bit of the sauce and way too too much cheese. The curry chicken supreme was so bland and tasteless it was barely edible and give both spuds to $21 it felt like an expensive waste of money.I hope the future spuds improve however we wont be back.
