The chef is, believe it or not, a classically trained culinary professional. He runs a tight ship for this little cafe. They offer sandwiches, soups, salads, muffins, and chips, as you might expect. But they also offer specials that are about on par with any of the hipster restaurants downtown. One of the most famous is the Adobo Chicken, a Filipino dish. It literally sells out in the building. (Call ahead to find out when they are serving it). They also do a mean taco salad! The cheeseburgers are small and plain, but cheap and consistently tasty. Think your neighbor 's cook-out. But don 't just think it is just office workers and poor saps going to court that seek out this yummy fare. The cafe has its share of followers who come to purchase lunch from the area. The cafe even sold tickets or passes for a recent pre-Thanksgiving themed lunch. Prepaid orders were $10 a plate, while at the door was $12, and a chance that they may have sold out of the meal (turkey, cranberry sauce and the like). If you come here for a case or jury service, absolutely give it a try. If you 're in the neighborhood, and tired of all the regular downtown joints, or want something cheaper, give this place a try. No, it 's nothing fancy, but decent food on a budget. (Expect to pay around $15 for lunch, about $10 less than anywhere else). There is spacious seating, and a few easy chairs, and a television. Drinks are coffee and soft drinks (no booze--it is a courthouse, after all). Keep in mind that you need ID to enter the building. But you don 't have to be going to court to eat there. There is no table service, but the counter servers are kind and professional. Due to a program at the court, the people cleaning up in the cafe have vision impairment, or come from Opportunity Village, a center for intellectual disabilities. That 's a win-win. They close at 3.
Exceeded expectations for a small courthouse cafe. Pay attention to the daily specials.
Great place to have a breakfast burrito and lunch specials. #CHEF2DEATH
