La Quinta Inn Suites Trinidad

This place is awesome we will be staying here again.Very clean nice people. Wal-mart next door Great indoor pool and weight room.

My favorite La Quinta of all. I like the art on the walls, I like the piano bar music that occasionally will waft from the lobby, I like the consistent quality of the breakfasts, I like the consistent friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the rooms, I like the welcoming of my two dogs and the dog treats made available to them, I like that I have always had bathrooms with showers that work and hot water that lasts, I like that the a.c./heater works right, and I like its setting, in the cute as my wife says town of Trinidad. I go out of my way to come this way and stay here when I travel,several times a year, back and forth from Central Texas to Utah. Compared to lots of other La Quintas, not mention other hotels, I 've stayed at, this is the *only* one I 've ever had an inclination to compliment. Oh...and it does 't hurt that there 's a Walmart next door, just a walking path away.

The breakfast was delicious, the staff were sweet and helpful. Definitely a great experience.

I had reserved the room a few weeks Fri/Sat night out only cause I heard it was always so busy. My daughter and her bestie and myself came up from Wylie Texas Thursday night and it was a 9 hour drive. They didn't have any room available..so Friday morning I went in and explained that we just drove so long if they could get us in sooner then 3pm. She said to check back in a hour. So we did and she got us in!! I was so thankful and asked questions about everything. The gym and pool is for reserved which is great!! Heck yah be safe!! The next morning we went out and I couldn't get back in my room. I called from the hallway to my room and there was a guy cleaning (housekeeping) super nice he heard me talking and asked if he could speak to front desk, I'm like yes. He offers to let me in after I verified my last name while he was talking to front desk. He got us in!! I was happy. I was like wow so sweet and nice. I told him you don't see much of men doing housekeeping. He laughed. The front office came and delivered me 2 new cards. We were all set to go!! Everything from the fitness room, free breakfast (which they don't let you help yourself) but nice, to the pool and from the view was greatness!! Now they do have some unwanted guest in the back parking lot but they didn't bother us. Would definitely return to stay here again!! Great hospitality!!

Initially, we were told the hotel was fully booked for the evening, then we were informed that a single king room was available. We accepted that, but there was complete silence. After holding on, another person came on the line and said there were no single king rooms. When I inquired about the first staff member, I was told she was taking over. We went back on hold, and moments later, the same person returned to say that only a double king suite was available. At this point, I was extremely frustrated and wanted confirmation on what was actually available. Once more, I was put on hold and then told there was a single king room. By then, I was unsure about what we had booked, so I requested to speak with a manager. I was told that the person on the line was the manager. If she truly was the manager, she either needed additional training or a replacement! We paid for our single king room, and the check-in process was just as frustrating as making the reservation. We had asked for a military discount, which we did not receive at the time of booking but was applied upon check-in when we brought it to their attention. Overall, we were not happy and decided we wouldn’t stay here again on our return home. However, after reflecting on my experience, I am changing my rating to a 5 based on the management's response. They reached out to us directly by phone to discuss the issues we faced and informed us that they had been addressed, apologizing for the inconvenience. After a thorough conversation with the manager, I've reconsidered my initial comments. I still want to express my dissatisfaction, but I also want to highlight why I've changed my rating. We have stayed at this La Quinta multiple times without any problems before, and although this was our first poor experience, we appreciate the management's effort to resolve it. We would certainly stay here again and would highly recommend it to fellow travelers.
