L'ossau - Laruns

I last reviewed this restaurant in 2013 and gave it a poor mark for service although the food was very good. We returned this year and delighted to say the service was quick and friendly and the food (pizza in this case) was just as good as before.

We waited at least 10 minutes after being seated before being given menus. Another 10 before taking the order, and about half an hour for the food to arrive. Really annoying that we could see people arriving after us getting their food first. Maybe it was because we didn't order starters, but not even bread to keep us going. When the food arrived it was one of the best pizzas I have had.

I run a small business in the UK bringing British holidaymakers to the area for adventure activities. This was the second time that we have used L'Ossau. Both times we booked for around 20 people and both times we have had an overwhelmingly positive response. The service is extremely friendly and the food is excellent every time we visit. Booking for up to 20 people has the potential to be very difficult but all we have had to do with L'Ossau is give them the number of guests and they have handled everything excellently. I will absolutely be using the L'Ossau again and I strongly recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting the area.

We had lunch at the L'Ossau in August, meeting family there on our arrival across the Pyrenees. Our lunch consisted of soup (which was more of a meal!) for the ladies, and carbonara for the gents. We sat outdoors, were able to park right outside, service was speedy, prices were reasonable and all in all this restaurant was exactly what we wanted.

We live in France and visited this restaurant with some members of our family who were staying with us. It was absolutely disgraceful. There were 7 of us including 3 children. Our food arrived at random so we did not eat a single thing together. We ordered 2 omelettes aux cepes and 1 plain omelette, we actually received 1 omelette aux ceps, 1 plain omelette and one green salad! The main course of steak, was completely inedible. They then tried to charge us for items that we hadn't ordered. The waitress was rude and we waited over an hour for our food, even though we were the first people in the restaurant at midday. We were very embarrassed to have subjected our family to such a terrible dining experience in France. We complained but received absolutely no apology, just more rudeness from the waitress.
