My husband and I both ordered the “Cajun Omelette,” which turned out to be nothing more than overcooked eggs with burnt andouille sausage and a bit of salsa on top. The grits that came with the omelette were hard and cold, while my husband’s shrimp and grits, priced at $20, were equally disappointing. Every piece of sausage in my omelette was burnt, and when I mentioned this to our waitress, she removed that item from our bill. Despite this, we still ended up paying over $50 for the meal. I also ordered coffee, which was served in a full pot but tasted quite bitter. In the end, my husband offered me some of his shrimp and grits, but I couldn’t even finish them and ended up throwing them away. Overall, our experience was extremely disappointing, and I will definitely take reviews more seriously in the future. I really wanted this to be a great meal, but it simply wasn't. Sorry, not sorry.
I ordered a side of red beans and rice, and unfortunately, it was disappointing. While the seasoning on the beans was nice, the rice was undercooked and hard—literally inedible. The waitress mentioned that it’s prepared that way and warned it could be quite tough to chew. The cornbread was also a letdown; it was dry, hard, and nearly served cold. I wouldn’t recommend it. On a positive note, the French fries were well-seasoned and tasty. The brioche bun on my burger was excellent, though the classic burger itself was nothing extraordinary, albeit decent. The Beignets were passable, but they didn’t resemble the real deal. Overall, I wouldn’t return. I don’t think it’s worth spending money here.
I visited this restaurant for the first time and arrived just as it opened, sitting at the bar. The staff was very friendly and engaged in conversation with us since there weren't any other customers at the time. I ordered the shrimp and grits along with the hot chicken sandwich, and both dishes were enjoyable. I'll definitely be returning!
Our serve was awesome. The food was phenomenal, definitely turned a not so great day into the best day of the week. Shrimp and grits were good but needed more cheese, the smoked wings were delish but I'd love a hint of sazon, fish and chips was the best I've had in lansing so far... pimento Mac and cheese was beyond words. Just order the entree size, TRUST ME. The beignets are delectable and add the rotating sauce... you won't be sorry. Thr cornbread was good but needs to be a bit more moist... that sounds bad. Maybe a honey glaze?Local gem and I need to return soon. Usually the shrimp etouffee wins the meal but today it was all about the beignets!
We went here for Sunday brunch on a sunny day and decided to sit outside. For drinks we started with Mimosas and Cajun lemonade. The mimosas were the best I've ever had and was refreshing. For food, we ordered a Breakfast bowl and a Trust me quiche with a Side of potato casserole and cheddar grits. I specially liked the casserole and the bowl. The service was friendly but a tad bit slow. But we weren't complaining about that since we very looking for a lazy brunch anyways. Overall, I would definitely come back and try their Lunch menu and their glorious mimosas.
