Contribuiți la feedbackThis place is a time machine; straight out of the 1950's.The decor might actually be (mostly) original; Formica, chrome chairs, walls plastered with signs, pictures, smart-aleck signs, etc. It reminds me of so many of the places we used to eat when on road trips, or just hanging out with friends. As the sign out front says, "This is not fast food. If you're in a hurry, please come back when you're not.The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The menu varied. The portions are generous, the food delicious, and the prices very reasonable. They also have take out baked items like, thick, home made pies. The only negative I found was the hours of operation, 7 days a week: 08:00 - 11:00 Breakfast & 11:00 - 14:30 Lunch 14:30 - 08:00 Closed. Getting there is about a 10 - 15 minute diversion from Highway 1. Nevertheless, I will be stopping there whenever I can, when driving nearby; unless it's after 13:30.
Nothing fancy just a quaint little greasy spoon style dinner on the side of the Fraser hwy. Several movies have been shot here can you recognize them?
Ordered the hilltop breakfast with a side of onion rings. Farmer sausage was a small portion but hash browns were probably the best I've ever had. Over all the food would be an 8 out of ten. Service was good but I didn't think much of the sign out front telling me how busy they were and not to be impatient. Decor was ok except for the stick down carpet tile floor that looked dirty and needs replacement. Sort gave the whole place a dirty feel. Other than that if you are hungry and looking for a stick to your ribs kind of breakfast at a good price this is the place to go.
I have been wanting to visit the cafe ever since I found out about it but it is not exactly close to us. When I found out that friends of our from the East Coast were visiting and staying in the area I knew it would be the perfect place to visit. I did not realize just how tiny and busy the place would be so expect a bit of a wait. I was too late for the breakfast menu so I got their all day breakfast instead. It was a tough call. When I saw Reg’s Hilltop Burger I realized that is what I should have ordered, damn it! My breakfast was good but look at that! Be prepared for a bit of a mess when you eat it and the portion sizes are very generous. The place was packed with people getting ready for the long weekend and you have to talk quite loudly to be heard but it was worth it. Note that the place closes at 2:30 each day so try and get there for noon or earlier if you really want to hang out. Still, it was worth the drive. My husband ordered the bumbleberry pie and it was fantastic. It was so delicate it kind of fell apart on the way to the plate. My friend's lemon meringue pie faired a little better but still, so tender!I could not go to a diner cafe and NOT get a chocolate milkshake. I wish I had known it was going to come with whipped cream. Not a fan. It was removed. The milkshake comes with that extra stainless steel container with tons of extra shake so everyone got a bit of a taste and it was a delicious classic chocolate milkshake. Beautiful! If you order a Mountain or Everest Burger you will get your photo on the wall of the foyer of the restaurant. These people FEED you! What a fun and delicious way to spend the afternoon catching up with friends over food. Hilltop Diner Cafe has tons of charm, great customer service and pretty awesome food. It totally lived up to my expectations. You can read the full review on my size Suzie the Foodie.
