Flourishing Restaurant - Langley

My wife and I have been eating at The Flourishing for years. We live almost an hour away and we cross the city because we appreciate the great food and consistent quality service. The western Cantonese food is perfect for our pleasure and... we are so well recognized and treated by the staff as we feed. Well, worth the ride.

This is our third visit to this restaurant and will likely be our last. The food is mediocre and the prices are on the higher side for Chinese cuisine.

I received a 10% discount for picking up my food, and I was advised not to get delivery because it is slow. The customer service during pickup was good. However, once I got home and tried the food, I was left extremely disappointed. The fried chicken was dry and had hard crispy bits, while the sweet and sour chicken balls were overly greasy. The sauce was thin and lacked flavor. The deep-fried shrimp had no sauce as promised on the menu. The lemon wedge provided was not a suitable alternative. The egg roll was more like a cabbage roll, and the texture was unpleasant. Overall, my experience with this restaurant was a letdown, especially after having high hopes for Western Chinese food.

We ordered the delivery, and our meal was simply average, with the exception of the ginger beef that I would rate as very bad. Dough and chew in a reddish-coloured sauce, no ginger and splashy dressed with onions. I have no loss to explain what's happening in the lower mainland. Go to Calgary. The worst thing I had is what I had here. Average portion sizes, no bonus items or discounts for cash collection. It won't be back.

Stay away from the chow mein. Noodles were one big blob. The rest was just alright. Delivery was slow. Will look elsewhere.
