Contribuiți la feedbackThe menu has two pages with vegetarian dishes. Some of them are also vegan. They don’t have a symbol or something like that for the vegan options but they name the ingredients. To be sure I asked them if the dish I wanted to eat is vegan. The restaurant isn’t the cheapest but I went there a couple of times and every time was good.
Here we a have a strange experience for a Londoner, a place that looks and feels like a regular German restaurant but that serves very good Indian food. The place is spacious and colourful, the service prompt and friendly. The menu is extensive and as it goes they use the English terms for the dishes with a German translation. So something like Onion Bhaji gets translated into about 20 words :-)I has some vegetable samosas to start which were very big and tasty. probably one each would do. I had Lahori Chicken for mains. (Yes I know Lahore isn't (now) in India). This was also a large portion too much for one, again very tasty and came with a bucket of rice.I also had a Mango Lassi to drink which was fine although I was expecting some fancy decoration on top that you in other places. All in a good meal can be had here. Like most German towns it seems, parking is not easy but there are 20 or so place a couple of minutes walk away
You wouldn't really feel like going in here – nondescript, on a fairly busy road – unless you knew what was inside. Even inside it's gutbürgerlich as opposed to exotic. But our experience belied first impressions. The food was very good: the lentil bread and sauces on the house were a good opener, followed by a mixed starter dish and a tasty lamb madras. The service was correct and efficient. We had an enjoyable lunch and would go again if in the area.
In one month time, we have been here twice. The service is good, prices are fair and the food is of good quality. This time I have chosen a Vindaloo version of a dish: this was sharp but not burning. Clearly, they have tailored their dishes to the German / Western tastes. After asking the waitress it turns out that they can make it spicier when asked to do so. Will go there again and try some other dishes as they have a lot of options.
Poppadoms and sauces (for starter) were excellent and so was the crispy naan bread. Had the tandoori mixed dish, which had chicken, veal, fish and a shrimp. Although nicely cooked, I did not like the fish and shrimp much in this tandoori setting (chicken was great). A pity that it was not possible to order a menu for one person, so you could have some of the different tasting dishes, for which Indian is famous. Could only find this mixed grill and all tastes like tandoori...
