Grand China - Lancaster

I find it hard to believe that this restaurant has received so many positive reviews. There are not many outstanding Chinese restaurants in Lancaster, but there are certainly better options than this one. The food here is quite bland. My supposedly "Hot and Spicy Chicken" dish was far from spicy. The Crab Rangoon was overcooked and lacking in crab meat, mostly just cream cheese. This will be our first and last visit to this place.

I have not been here in many years and my Husband loves Chinese and he had never been here before so we decided to give it a try. We went early so it was not crowded. He had his usual lo mein and I ordered shrimp and vegetables and an egg roll, the egg roll wasn't especially good because you could tell it was made much earlier that day and was overdone by dinner time, but I will say that their Chinese mustard, not from a little packet was the hottest freshest Chinese mustard ever. It will blow your head off! Awesome! The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is better than average. I must say ;however, that it was not nearly as good as I remember it was in the past. They used to serve cocktails but recently changed the BYOB, wish I would have known that in advance.

Voted best sauce in Lancaster. Shrimp and Brocoli is great. Never had a bad meal. Serves alcohol . Husband and wife team have been in this business for 45-50 years. They know how to please.

We ordered take-out. The restaurant was clean, and nicely decorated. There was a mesmerizing fish tank by the entrance. The egg rolls, and spring rolls were delicious. The string beans in the shrimp with string beans were fresh, and tasted like they were just picked from the garden.

We had a wonderful experience at Grand China. The food was delicious and affordable. The staff treated us well, even though we were tourists. We enjoyed our meal so much that we ended up going back for a second visit. Definitely worth trying out!
