The rooms are clean but small, perfect if you're just using it as a base to explore Historic Lancaster and its surroundings. The hotel is conveniently located next to a Wetherspoons, which is good for budget-conscious travelers. Parking is cheap and easy to find. The rooms were cleaned daily and the beds were made up. The TV had enough channels to keep us entertained on a rainy day. The walls are thick so noise from other rooms is not an issue. The hotel is centrally located, making everything easily accessible. However, there were some drawbacks. The front desk staff were very loud and made us feel uncomfortable. The traffic warden was strict with parking. The rooms were small and all looked the same. Doors slammed loudly, making it hard to sleep in or nap during the day. The noise from the bottle bank behind the hotel was also disruptive in the mornings. There wasn't much space to store clothes. Overall, if you get a good deal, it's a great option. Otherwise, it's better to pay a bit more and stay at Penny Street Bridge across the road.
Everything appeared to be fine. The late check-in option was a nice touch, especially for those traveling to the Lake District. However, the room had a strong odor of beer and urine.
