They range from coconut and chocolate meringue to lemon meringue and lemon icebox and of course sweet potato and pecan. It is the half and half miniature version we laud today... a masterful gift of two flavors in a single tiny pie crust, a yin/yang of Southern perfection. She pours those batters by hand and still manages to make a perfect division on every one.
This restaurant is a fantastic and one-of-a-kind dining spot. The tamales were delicious and wrapped in corn husks, which made for a special treat.
Definitely worth a visit. I ordered the hot sponges and 2 cakes to take away. When we opened the bag, the aroma was so enticing and the treats were still warm, we couldn't resist digging in right away. The flavors were fantastic. The pecan pie was top-notch, with 90 percent pecans and just the right amount of filling to hold everything together. Rhoda and her team were super friendly. Both the service and the food left us feeling grateful that we decided to stop by.
Rhoda's Hot Tamales in Lake Village is a fantastic place to dine. The tamales, made from beef and chicken daily, are incredibly delicious. Even though I typically enjoy adding hot sauce or pepper sauce to my tamales, Rhoda's are so flavorful that I prefer to eat them as they come. The cakes, especially the sweet potato cake, are also superb. Make sure to call ahead to order a hot cake, as they tend to sell out quickly. Located just 25 miles from US-65, Rhoda's is definitely worth a stop on your journey.
Fish was amazing!!! Definitely worth the stop!
