La Botana - LAKE GENEVA

The environment is lively and the food is flavorful. Since I last updated this review two years ago, I still definitely recommend trying the cecina meat when ordering here. However, during my recent visit, I had a taco dinner with regular steak, and I found that 90% of the meat in the tacos was unpleasantly chewy and consisted of mostly squishy fat pieces. The service and atmosphere are nice, but the quality of the steak was quite disappointing.

I ordered "ice in the cup" from this place and was really looking forward to trying the mais. However, I was disappointed when it arrived cold. I've never received cold "ice in the cup" from any other place, so I'm not sure why this one was different. Overall, it didn't meet my expectations.

The food was cold, and the roast beef was filled with fat.

I've eaten at this place two or three times now, with friends. It is super good, and it tastes like authentic Mexican food.

A gem of a restaurant and store in Lake Geneva. High marks for the burritos and ice cream bars.
