Contribuiți la feedbackWe have been looking for a place that has more variety. We are vegetarian and vegetables are important! This place has done amazing things with the lack of options available on the island. When cucumbers are available, they pickle them! Carrots, make s tasty carrot sauce. Creative, flavorful and thoughtful on how they work with what is available.
Absolutely phenomenal food. When we arrived in Lajes we asked the locals what they recommended and they all said this place. Make reservations to ensure you get a table, trust me it’s worth it!
We have been 2 weeks to the Azores and this was one of the best Restaurants. Really friendly waitress and the food was delicious. I had the almond covered porc fish just perfect. Highly recommended.
O melhor restaurante de Flores. Comi dois pratos principais em uma visita.
This was a bit different, a bit expensive but very tasty. One of the Azorean products of high esteem is of course the pineapple and this chef is onto it in a big way. To start we ordered the soup, with it must be said a little trepidation. The waitress, ultra keen to talk to us in English despite having three native Portuguese speakers in the group, explained it was tomato and pineapple soup. Not a great fan of tomato soup anyway, as it reminds me of a childhood feeding out of Campbell's tins, but this was the real deal. Not as I thought, a red soup with a ring of charred, fried pineapple floating in it like a french onion soup with its little island of toast and cheese. No, this was emulsified and brought together by a daring chef who knows what he wants and is getting it. Wonderful flavour and an unexpected hit. The pineapple tour continued with the fish course. Fried trigger fish fillets with sweet potatoes and a wonderful mixed salad, aided by a pouring dish of pineapple sauce. Guess what? It worked again!! Very good indeed. The fish came with a choice of salted potatoes, sweet potatoes, mushroom rice or, you guessed it, pineapple rice! Brilliant. Not having pineapple for dessert though, no thanks!! Completely pineappled-out, we were, by this stage, but in the nicest possible way. With coffee and home made ice cream, the damage was near to 120 euros for 4. Bit steep but excellent food and a great decor, nice efficient multi-lingual !! service. Excellent and recommended, especially for fans of... pineapple. Don't be coy, go for it.
