Tommy Pastrami New York Delicatessen

What a hidden gem! Some of the best pastrami I've had outside of New York. I can't wait to come back for more. The sandwich I had was just the right size – perfect for sharing with my husband!

Fortunately, I managed to get a free side, which made it a little more affordable, but I wasn't a huge fan of the potato salad. The music during lunchtime was quite loud and entirely in Spanish, which took me by surprise since there were only two other customers in the place. It seems like the business might not be doing so well. My previous experiences at the bagel shop were decent, but the entire Tommy Pastrami situation feels like a letdown and is too costly. I might have become a regular customer if the prices were reasonable or if the food was worth what it cost, but sadly, that's not the case. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I felt a bit foolish for even stopping by. When I looked at the menu and saw the prices, I asked for clarification — yes, it was indeed $18.95 just for the sandwich. I also inquired about the size, and it turns out it was just a 6-inch sub. I really wanted to leave, but I felt too awkward to do so once I was there.

While there are better spots to enjoy pastrami elsewhere, this is definitely the best option in this part of the city. The pastrami is juicy and tender, neither dry nor chewy, and packed with flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant could use some improvement, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars. I didn’t try the brisket or other sandwiches, as I only come here for the pastrami, but I will definitely return for more.

Tommy Pastrami is amazing, but this place is terrible. The food lasted about 25 minutes (and we were literally the only ones there). They were out of everything. Half of the Soda Fountain did not work, from Senf. Just a mess. Save yourself anger and go to Santa Ana.

A bit on the pricey side, fifteen dollars for a sandwich and another three dollars if you want cheese. At least the tomato and lettuce were included, condiments were not on the sandwich but the squeeze packages were given after requested. The guy at the counter was really nice and the place was clean. I realize prices are going up, but this seemed excessive.
