O Caseiro - Lagos

Boa comida e bom serviço, embora haja um jovem para as torres com o garçom.

Não há muito a dizer, quando estamos satisfeitos e perceber que como uma tuga, recomendo fortemente a cozinha deste restaurante. 100% dos sabores portugueses aos quais se deve o cuidado do extraordinário serviço de cozinha! Já não temos em muitos lugares, estas verdadeiras cozinhas portuguesas. Parabéns!

Don’t be put off by the look of the outside of this place as it’s not particularly appetising. It looks like a dive bar but take a leap of faith and venture indoors where you’ll discover a truly wonderful, lively restaurant. Not alone is it really cosy friendly but it also has a lovely outside space at the rear if you like to eat al fresco. The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive yet they’re unobtrusive: a hard skill to master. Now to the food which, for me, was the star of the show and that’s saying something when you consider my comments about the staff. I started with chorizo in honey followed by roast octopus potatoes in a garlicky broth. The chorizo was flavourful and peppery but the honey cut through any excess piquancy and really mellowed the dish. I thoroughly enjoyed the contrast between sweet spicy and wolfed it down in no time. The octopus however was the star of the show: a beautiful piece of fresh, fresh seafood bathed in a buttery, garlicky broth with a scattering of chopped parsley and cracked black pepper. I would have loved some fresh to mop up the juices but, as you know, Portuguese bread is generally an afterthought. That’s my only gripe…..and it’s not with O Caseiro….so I mopped up the juices with lovely baby potatoes. I love, love, love this place and will make it my business to return…..…regularly !

Food is okay but don’t go after dusk. Inside or outside you’ll be bitten to shreds. The staff don’t seem to care, we moved inside and their response was ‘it’s the same in there’. Really not worth a visit unless you want 70+ mozzy bites to deal with!

Good food, reasonable price, nice setting. Good outdoors sitting. Watch for it on the road, the sign is covered with flowers, difficult to see.
