Marquis Tavern - Lafayette

I had a lovely lunch with my dad on a Saturday in March. I hadn't been to Lafayette Village in years, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that while many stores have closed, there are efforts to revitalize the area. It really looks impressive. The Marquis Tavern is located on the ground floor of the Lafayette House. The atmosphere is very casual and friendly. I ordered a Reuben sandwich, which was quite delicious, and it came with coleslaw on the side. My dad opted for the French onion soup. Overall, we were very satisfied with our meal.

The experience was quite average. The penne alla vodka sauce was disappointing, and while the orange roughy of the day was decent, it didn't stand out. The side of vegetables served with it was the smallest I've ever seen. The shrimp, clam, and scallop special was the best dish, but even that was just mediocre. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is friendly, but these positives weren't enough to compensate for the food quality.

I'm getting married in a few months, and a friend recommended Lafayette House over Mohawk House for our rehearsal dinner. While we were there to book the event, we decided to have dinner at the tavern. The burgers were absolutely amazing, and the fries were excellent. The fried vegetables with dill dip were incredible as well. Everything is reasonably priced, and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. The iced tea is fresh. I really love this place!

Had dinner there for the 1st time this past Saturday and it was great. For apps we had the calamari and wings, both very flavorful. For dinner we had crab cakes and lobster ravioli which were delicious. The service was good and we'd definitely go back.

Great friendly service, good size portions and creative drink specials in a cozy pub-like atmosphere. Homey feeling that's casual and comfortable. V nice. Prices could be slightly better.
