Cactus Jack's Grill Watering Hole

The service was poor, and the food didn't meet expectations. Perhaps I just visited on a bad night, but I have my doubts.

1. **Cocktails**: I ordered a classic margarita, but what I received tasted like reconstituted frozen orange juice concentrate mixed with a cheap powdered mix. There was no hint of lime or tequila; it was utterly undrinkable. The waitress confirmed that it was made with orange juice and kindly offered a replacement. I opted for a gin and tonic, but it tasted purely like tonic water—no trace of gin at all. Additionally, she didn’t remove the charge for the awful margarita from the bill, which I suspect may be company policy. 2. **Service**: To put it simply, the service was slow. Cactus Jack’s is a large restaurant with ample bar and table seating, yet the bartenders, cooks, and servers seemed overwhelmed. Both rounds of drinks took over 20 minutes to arrive, and dinner took well over an hour. 3. **Menu Food Quality**: As a so-called Tex-Mex restaurant, Cactus Jack’s menu was surprisingly disorganized. Less than a third of the items could truly be classified as Tex-Mex. You’d expect a place like this to serve exceptional tortilla chips and salsa, but no. The salsa was bland, poorly seasoned, and lacked any distinct chile flavor—just a total tomato overload. The tortilla chips were stale and came in a disappointingly small portion. The management company behind Cactus Jack’s is named “Great NH Restaurants,” but they may want to consider rebranding to something more fitting, like “Tourist Traps with Expensive Mediocre Food and Drinks.”

This is the perfect Mexican Restaurant!! It has been a yearly experience for a vacation group on day one in the lakes region. The atmosphere is comfortable and casual. The food is always excellent. Drinks are exceptional. It is though, the staff that make the experience!!! Staff are particularly amazing and I would anyone to go in and enjoy the experience!!!!

I absolutely love the queso here! Sader Eddine took our picture, and it turned out fantastic. It's a memory we'll cherish forever!

We always give 5 stars and 22% however the women who served us was a B I T C H though she could not help herself. She made one uncalled for comment and the rest of the time she was phony nice. The food was good, she was slow and dropped stuff, it was busy.
