Tornado Sushi - Lackawanna

Excellent place for quick takeout sushi that’s fresh and affordable. Prep time of 10-15 minutes for a whole platter.(1 area of improvement: Not much seating, so not good for dine-in at the moment)

We've been ordering from this place since it opened. I always get the Tuna Poke Bowl because I'm Celiac. I always get any sauces on the side so it avoids contamination. I haven't had any problems yet.

【SLOW SERVICE, CHECK YOUR ORDERS BEFORE YOU LEAVE】I got a flyer with a grand opening promo and called to place an order for an appetizer and a platter around 6:25 pm in January. The staff said the order would be ready in half an hour. We arrived 20 minutes late thinking it would surely be ready by then as we didn't want to wait around. The store was empty at 7:15 pm and we had to confirm our order since they didn't have it ready and seemed to maybe not even be aware of it. They told us it would be ready in 15 minutes. We went back in after 15 minutes and a guest was at the register, taking forever to place and pay for their order. The guest that arrived after us received what appeared to be a large order before us too. Staff told us it would be another 5 minutes and at this point it was 30 minutes past the original estimated time but since we paid and it was only 5 minutes, we decided to wait it out. The third time we went back in to check on the status of the order was 10 minutes later than their estimated time and they provided us with bag, only it was the wrong order. The platter was completely different than what we ordered and it was missing an appetizer. We went back in and they asked us to confirm the order a second time, and after waiting for 10-15 minutes, they gave us another bag. We checked and it was incorrect AGAIN, one of the rolls we ordered was missing so we went back in, repeated our order for the third time (can you imagine having to confirm your order not once but 3 times after waiting nearly an hour after your initial estimated completion time??? . They finally apologized and were about to start a new platter and we asked if they could simply swap out the incorrect roll since we didn't want to wait another hour for them to redo. As a gesture of goodwill they also threw in some extra semi-frozen salmon sashimi. By the time we left, the appetizer was not warm and fresh. The sushi itself was good but seriously not worth the long wait!

I have done take outs from this place for 5 times now, and each one did not disappoint. The sushi/sashimi platters were good. The bento boxes were great as well. I tried the salmon teriyaki and I really liked it. The pokebowl was really good with large servings. I can't finish one bowl in one sitting. Will definitely come back!

Fresh fish and amazing value for the price! Ordered takeout in the opening month and two months later. Great quality both times.
