During lockdown we had Ray’s takeaways for Sunday lunch and they were absolutely delicious….we have just had our first meal at The Whip and it is even better. Starter potted duck with port and smoked trout with horseradish cream. Fish &chips with curry sauce, the cod was so fresh! Venison casserole was rich and decadent. Finished off with sticky toffee pudding eaten before I remembered to take a picture- it was that good . Already booked for Easter Sunday. Well done to Ray and his new team, to add, we had started eating our starter when I remembered to take a photo!!
We dropped by randomly on a Tuesday evening and stopped in for a quick beer and a chance for the dog to drink some water. The staff were incredibly friendly and even made us some excellent sandwiches on spec (even though the kitchen was meant to be closed! The beer was well kept and the garden, just next to Lacey Green windmill, was idyllic. Great place for a pleasant afternoon or evening (great in the sun and cosy indoors .
We went to the Whip after it recently reopened with a new chef and what an amazing surprise it was!! All the dishes were really tasty, top quality for a local pub! Staff was very welcoming and nice! Will definitly return soon and may quickly become regulars! Well done!
Fathers day.....not too busy so we were wondering after 50 minutes why no food? Unfortunately the dishwasher had sprung a leek...and flooded kitchen...when the food came out it was amazing ...complimentary drinks and pudding was much appreciated! A different choice of potatoes would go down well ie jacket potatoes or saute also no vegetarian options....would visit again!
It's a cozy little pub with great food and friendly staff, especially when a local celebrity drops by for a beer.
