This restaurant has changed ownership for both the La Prairie and Brossard locations. I visited the La Prairie location today, and the menu only offers poke bowls, which is fine, but what bothered me the most was the price. This is one of the most expensive poke bowls I've encountered around Montreal, especially considering what you get. For $17-18, you receive a bowl that is mostly empty, with barely any rice. They shouldn't even keep the name Yasu, as it tarnishes the original's legacy. The previous incarnation of Yasu was far superior in every aspect—the food was better, the prices were more reasonable, and the portions were much more generous. I am not looking forward to seeing what the Brossard location will be like.
This is truly one of the best poke bowls I've ever had in my life. The opening hours are a bit unusual, but it's not a big deal. I would give it a perfect 10/10—those bowls are amazing!
The Yasu party is absolutely amazing! The special sauce is unique and unlike anything you'll find anywhere else.
I ordered the 54-piece cool combo to share with my niece and nephew, and I was quite disappointed with both the presentation and the quality of the fish. The salmon nigiri had a rubbery texture, while the tuna nigiri was a complete disaster. The soy sauce was excessively salty. I ended up giving the tuna to my cat, at least it enjoyed it! Additionally, there’s a specific soy sauce designed for sushi and sashimi that is usually milder and slightly sweet, but what I received was just plain soy sauce.
