James' Place Prime Seafood Sushi

The staff was welcoming, and the sushi was absolutely delightful!

From a personal perspective, I would appreciate a few enhancements: perhaps they could introduce some form of bread to accompany the meal—like breadsticks or buttery rolls akin to those served at Red Lobster—something to nibble on while waiting for the food. Additionally, it would be great if they could offer a sweet white wine option, such as Moscato or Riesling, available by the glass. While I understand the importance of adhering to California regulations, it's worth noting that seafood can easily become tough if overcooked, even for just a minute. My lobster tail, for instance, wasn't as tender as it should have been. One suggestion I have: frozen swordfish can be thawed in the microwave on low for a couple of minutes, and then it cooks quickly on the grill. It just needs a good sauce during cooking to enhance the flavor.

We always choose to dine there before a play. The food and service are consistently excellent.

James Place in La Jolla is the perfect restaurant to dine at before attending a show at the La Jolla Playhouse. I recommend arriving early, as many patrons are heading to the theater. We ordered the Kobe burgers and truffle fries, which were simply divine. The juicy Kobe beef patties with the right amount of cheese, fresh veggies, and flavorful truffle fries made for a delightful meal. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring a memorable dining experience. If you're in La Jolla, especially for a theater night, James Place is a must-visit spot to enjoy great food and excellent service.

I dine at James’ Place before LJ Playhouse productions. I enjoy the convenience and friendly staff. However, the menu never changes and gets boring.
