Crown Point Coffee - La Jolla

Amazing food and prices aren't too bad! Highly recommend, will be returning!

This is indeed a quaint stop, but one you should definitely try! I stopped by on a solo morning excursion while the rest of my group was recuperating from the night before (two words: bachelorette party). It was a nice walk to get here and the coffee was fantastic! Also, I was so surprised to be gifted a free mug! The service here was great, the coffee was superb, and I loved the close proximity to Crown Point Beach (absolutely within walking distance, took me 10 minutes max). If I’m ever in the area I will definitely be back to chill in their outdoor seating section, reading a good book with a great cup of coffee by my side!

This is a fantastic local place for enjoying coffee as well as breakfast or lunch.

After waiting for quite some time, I went to inquire about my food and coffee, only to find that they were sitting at a window around the corner, out of sight, with my name on the bag. By the time I picked them up, my food and coffee were cold. I don’t understand why they asked where I would be if they weren’t going to inform me when my order was ready. The tip I left also feels questionable in retrospect. As for the food, it was just okay—perhaps even subpar. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich had an unusual margarine spread that was overly peppery, and the eggs were similarly seasoned. It tasted overwhelmingly of pepper. The bagel and bacon were satisfactory, but the regular coffee tasted like hazelnut instead of the standard flavor. I’m not sure if they used the wrong creamer or if the carafe wasn’t cleaned properly, but the unexpected flavor was off-putting. The mocha was only decent and had a gritty texture, suggesting it wasn’t mixed properly. To top it off, the regular coffee cup was leaking. In total, I paid $36 for two sandwiches that were mostly pepper and two oddly flavored coffees, one served in a leaking cup. It would have been nice to at least receive a smile or a thank you. Maybe I visited on an off day, but I was hoping for a better experience.

There’s a small parking lot available, but you can easily find street parking as well. This place is a must-visit! They have a growing menu featuring a variety of food options, including pastries and sandwiches. Their beverages are also fantastic and not overly sweet. I ordered an iced pumpkin spice latte with almond milk and a banana blueberry walnut muffin. The latte was delightful—perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice and sweetness, smooth espresso, and a genuinely delicious flavor. The muffin was equally impressive, with a great mix of walnuts, blueberries, and banana. The staff here are incredibly friendly, and the service was prompt. You can't miss this spot since it's right on the main road. I highly recommend it!
