My wife and I had dinner there on the three evenings that we stayed in La Grave, and all our meals were outstanding pork and dourade on evening 1, fondue savoyarde on evening 2, and lamb chops on evening 3 all delicious! The wine selection is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is very warm, friendly, and helpful. We look forward to returning we could not have had a more enjoyable experience!
This is a culinary display at its finest..Friend and I had chosen a Duck and pork dish respectively; Émincé de magret de canard sauce au pommeau) He didn't even like duck- but so marveled at what was put in front of me he went for the switch....and was extremely surprised..as I was in favor of trying the extraordinarily looking curried dish with pork Curry vert de mignon de porc au lait de coco, légumes croquants) that he had chosen. well prepared with artistic flare yet not overtly pompous in its attempt to satisfy your eye over tummy. No mind of the table set up whereas you share a long mountain style table with unknowns.,I found it quite social. Prepare though to be cycled out as you have about two hours until next reservation sets arrive...but in this tiny intimate setting, its worth it., Desserts were remarkable, wine excellent and the pre-course quite decadent. You need a reservation- Its not happening without it and for 60 euro total.., I was pleased as punch
The food is lovely, service is friendly, quick and attentive. Delicate and original, nice presentation.
We have been coming to La Grave for over 25 years and no visit would be complete without a dinner at the restaurant Au Vieux Guide. Quaint, charming, rustic and cozy and always a great meal. Traditional, hearty food. Friendly and helpful staff. Simply a joy in every respect. Tip: It is not easy to find as it is hidden down a path off the main street in town. So ask directions because it is very much worth seeking out.
Very nice. calm. very good plates for a reasonable price. a melted of rare quality in a restaurant( the tartiflettes also ) old rognions with a very good gustative deco. a cool and quality service. Go on and enjoy yourself. (I don't put 5 because I reserve this to the high gastronomy or a good barracks to fried can have 5).
