Le St-Joseph - La Garenne-Colombes

I wish I could give this place 5 stars - service was fantastic, athmosphere was great, and overall it felt like the right place to eat. Unfortunately, there was something in the food that simply was not exactly to my liking. I can't say it was not good - everything tasted rather good, but after eating in excellent and relatively-cheap French restaurants on the previous nights of my visit to Paris - at Le Saint Joseph I paid much more for food that just wasn't that special. It felt more like good french-style home-cooking (or bistro-style cooking) rather than a superb restaurant meal (and for a 30-Euro meal well outside the city, after reading the reviews here I did expect it to be superb). Still the food definitely deserves 3-4 stars and everything else is with no doubt 5-star level. Or maybe I just picked the wrong items from the menu ?

You need to reserve here, but it is worthwhile doing so as the limited menu is swiftly and efficiently served and cooking is of a high standard. Hardly a tourist to be found as it is clearly a local favourite.

It had been long time that I did not give 5 stars for a restaurant!! The service was good and kind but nothing exceptional but the food... I need to go back soon...First, my benchmark for a French restaurant starts with the bread. It was not home made but it was definitely great (sourced from a nearby bakery)! The menu at 31 euros has the starter, main course and dessert/cheese. Fair price for a full set although a few dishes need an extra. The red wine served by glass was very nice. I took the snails in blanquette, then the andouillette and finished with a saint nectaire from Bordier. My wife's oriental starter was OK but the veal liver as a main course... How did they do it? It was cooked (not pinked or ****) but super soft. The waiter mentioned the slow cooking with the butter is able to keep the softness. Finally, she took the fromage blanc from Bordier... I was glad my wife let me tried her dishes About Bordier, Basically if you like diary products, Bordier is a must!! Overall, it was a pleasure for having dinner at Le Saint Joseph!

Really enjoyed our business lunch and the food was excellent though we did consider it a little over priced. I'd say the prices are more in line with more up market restaurants in central Paris.

I have been there 3-4 times for business lunch, always in groups from 6 to 10.The restaurant is quite small, so it is highly recommended to make a reservation, but it is worth the effort. Don't try to go there for a 60-min lunch unless you go for a very short menu !Traditional French cuisine, with great taste and great selection of wines.Highly recommended, I will keep coming back !
